Samsung Galaxy A5 Now On Sale in China for $420

Samsung made its new Galaxy A5 smartphone available in China for approx. $420. This mid-range metal device is available with either single or dual SIM card slots, and it will reach other international markets over the next few weeks.

Initially announced back in late October along with Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 is a little bit more impressive compared to its smaller peer. However, even with the metallic frame seen at the Galaxy Alpha, the A5 does not bring anything spectacular under the hood.

As it was mentioned above, it is a midrange offering which brings a 5-inch 720p Super AMOLED display. The A5 is powered by a 53-bit Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, and it offers 2GB of RAM. In terms of storage, Galaxy A5 offers 16 GB, with the possibility to be extended via a microSD card. All these offerings are packed into a chassis that measures just 6.7 mm thick.

Camera feature is something worth mentioning, especially the 5 MP front facing camera while, on the back, the A5 comes with a 13 MP camera sensor. Samsung’s latest A series device brings non-removable 2,300 mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC connectivity.

Out of the box, the A5 will be running Android 4.4.4 KitKat, but since it is rather new, buyers can expect an Android 5.0 Lollipop update pretty soon. Samsung is also expected to update flagship offering such as Note 4 or Note Edge.

Given the fact that its specs and features are not that spectacular, it is rather questionable for Samsung to price the A5 smartphone at around $400. If we take into consideration certain problems the Korean manufacturer encountered in production and the high cost of the materials, this should not be such a surprise. So far, there are no other rumors regarding the A5’s availability and pricing for other marketplaces around the world.
